What's the minimum age?
We recommend the whale shark swim from ~5 years old, as long as the child is comfortable in open water and wears a life vest. Every family is different: if your child loves the water, they'll love it; if waves scare them, they may prefer to watch from the boat. You know your little one best.
What to expect with kids on board
- Early departure (around 7:00 am): put the kids to bed early the night before.
- A boat ride that can be choppy: bring age-appropriate motion-sickness pills (ask your pediatrician).
- Swims in turns of 2 people + guide: an adult can enter with the child.
- Ceviche, fruit and drinks on board (bring snacks they like).
What if my child doesn't want to or can't swim?
No problem. The child can stay on the boat with an adult and watch the whale shark from the surface, which is already amazing. Parents can also take turns swimming. Let us know when booking so we can organize the turns better.
