The classic bioluminescence tour
The most accessible and quickest option. You're taken to a dark lagoon or beach where you can walk, swim or observe how the water glows blue with every movement. Perfect if it's your first time, you travel with kids (from age 4) or you want a short, affordable experience. See the classic tour.
The kayak tour
Longer, more active and intimate. You paddle a double kayak through calm waters while each stroke ignites blue sparkles around you. It's the favorite of couples and those seeking a more immersive experience. It lasts about 3 hours and includes guide, vest and paddles. See the kayak tour.

The best time: the new moon
Bioluminescence is available year-round, but it's much better seen on moonless or new-moon nights, when the sky is dark and contrast is highest. If you can, plan your visit around the new moon. The months of June to October tend to be the most intense. It works even when cloudy, because the light comes from the water, not the sky.
What you'll see
- Blue sparkles trailing your hands, feet or the paddle.
- Glowing wakes behind the kayak.
- A starry sky with no light pollution (on clear nights).
Tips
- Don't use DEET repellent before entering the water (it harms the ecosystem).
- Photos are tricky: use night mode or long exposure, and lower expectations (it often looks better live than on camera).
- Wear clothes that can get wet and bring a dry change.
